Elizabeth Wilma (Kovach) Berry

Elizabeth Wilma Berry, age 92, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009, at her residence. She was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on April 10, 1917, daughter of the late John S. and Barbara S. (Nee: Szekey) Kovach.

On March 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Albert Lee Berry Sr. who preceded her in death, March 26, 2008. Elizabeth worked at the Highlands Restaurant, Ace Grille, Dumore, various Racine area manufacturers during the war years, and lastly Western Printing and Publishing Company, until her retirement in 1982. She was an avid baseball player for various teams in the 1940’s.

Survivors include her children, Albert L. Berry Jr., Judith L. Berry (Richard Nogosek), Barbara Berry; sister, Betty (Clarence) Palubicki; sisters-in-law, Ruby (Len) Scheppe of AZ, Margaret Kovach, Virginia Kovach, both of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Virginia Berry.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the McPherson Cemetery, Hwy K. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
