Alvin R. Nelson, “Al,” age 86, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Piqua, OH, April 3, 1923.
Al married Ruth Michelson on October 2, 1948. She passed away January 20, 1986. On April 25, 1989, he married Bernice Tucker. She passed away on November 23, 2003. Al graduated from Palmer College and was in the insurance business for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He served many boards including Racine Jaycees, Independent Insurance Agents of Racine, Life Underwriters of Racine and Kenosha, the North Side Business Assn, and the East Park Towers Assn. Al was a Shriner and a member of the Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee.
Surviving are nieces, nephews, and special friends, Joannie Williams and Marleen Miller.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Denise Mbise officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.until time of service. Entombment will be held at Graceland Cemetery.
