Cecelia R. (Kozenski) Schmidt

Cecelia Rachel Schmidt, age 81, passed away Friday, August 28, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Caledonia on December 17, 1927, daughter of the late Anton and Theresa (Nee: Juracek) Kozenski.

Cecelia graduated from William Horlick High School and attended Dominican College majoring in art. She was employed for 10 years as a secretary at Massey Ferguson and attended Kenosha Vocational School of Nursing. Upon graduation she worked in Dr. John Jamieson’s office for 33 years. On June 10, 1981, she was united in marriage to Paul Schmidt. Cecelia was a member and former board member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. She was an artist who enjoyed painting watercolors. She was a member of the Racine Art Guild and the Wednesday Morning Art Group. Through the years Cecelia provided loving care to her family and friends. She was always there when needed and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her loving husband, Paul; brothers, Anthony (Mary) Kozenski, Joseph Kozenski; sisters, Lillian Neumann; Marie Skowronski; brother-in-law, Walter (Joanne) Schmidt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her special “Club Friends.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wencel; and brothers-in-law, Benny Skowronski, Clarence Neumann, Joseph Schmidt and John Schmidt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at 7 p.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the church from 4:30 p.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Please meet at the chapel. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church have been suggested.
