Antonio M. Serrano

Antonio M. Serrano, 50, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 8, 2008, following a motorcycle accident in the Town of Brighton in Racine County.

Antonio was born on January 20, 1958, in Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacan, Mexico, to Agustin and Higinia (nee: Mondragon) Serrano. He came to the United States at the age of 20.

He was united in marriage on January 11, 1991, to Luz María Amador Garcia in Racine. Antonio was employed with Paul Swartz Nursery as superintendent manager. Antonio, known to all as Tony or Toño, was a faithful member of Cristo Rey Parish where he was a Cursillista, a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group, Coordinated the Cristo Rey Hot Meal Program group II, was a choir member, cooked and served Sunday lunch at Cristo Rey Parish once a month with his family, and organized the yearly Virgen de Guadalupe Drama. He prayed the rosary faithfully at 7 p.m. daily. Toño enjoyed serving his friends. His hobbies included, among many, fixing cars, repairing small electrical appliances, remodeling homes, landscaping, grilling, recording music and Catholic Programs to share with friends. He enjoyed singing hymns and listening to romantic music, spending time with family and friends and traveling.

Antonio is survived by his wife, Luz Maria; a daughter, Janet of Racine; three sons Ricardo and Edgar (Specialist Serrano in the U.S. Army Reserves) of Racine, and David of San Antonio, Texas; four granddaughters, Isaura Vanessa, Stefany, Alize Inez and Mayra Lisset. He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Auxilio (Armando Gutierrez), Josefina (Florencio Rueda), Arturo (Dolores Montes), Martha (Carlos Pérez) all of Mexico and Isabel Joyce (Ray Valadez), Norma, both of Racine as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Agustin and Higinia, Antonio was preceded in death by his brother, Victor.

Antonio’s celebration to eternal life will be celebrated by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, located at the corner of 8th and Wisconsin Avenue with Reverend Esteban Redoled officiating. Relative and friends may meet with the family at Cristo Rey Church on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the Church. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.
