Roger Sherman Rossman

Roger S. Rossman, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008, after a long, valiant battle with cancer at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints.

He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on March 12, 1931, the son of Carl and Bereniece (nee: Miller) Rossman. Roger was a 1949 graduate of William Horlick High School. On August 27, 1955, Roger was united in marriage to Mary Tewagian. He was a member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church and St. Mesrob’s Retiree Group. Roger served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He was a welder at Styberg Engineering for 43 1/2 years, retiring on September 30, 1994. Roger was a member of Harbor Light Yacht Club and loved to travel. He also enjoyed fishing with his brother, Wayne, and spending time with his grandchildren and granddogs, Coda and Allie.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Mary, and their daughters; Tamera (John Dembowiak) Rossman of Racine and Diane (John) Norkus of Augusta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Julianne, Andrew and Catherine Norkus; brothers, Gerald (Florence) Rossman of Hancock, Wayne (Marilyn) Rossman of Sturtevant and David (Betty) Rossman of Racine; sister-in-law, Sophie McLellan of Racine. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond McLellan in 2004, Paul (Mary) Tewagian in 2005 and Michael ‘Main Street Mike’ in 2008.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie St., on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church have been suggested.
