Katherine M. Springsteen (nee: Recknagle), age 90, passed away Thursday August 14, 2008, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Katherine was born in the town of LaFayette, July 2, 1918, daughter of the late Carl and Dora (nee: Bauermann) Recknagle.
Katherine was a graduate of Elkhorn High School and enjoyed attending her class reunions. On February 24, 1940, Katherine was united in marriage to Charles L. Springsteen, who preceded her in death October 18, 1979. She loved gardening, working on word search puzzles and was also an excellent seamstress. She was an avid Cubs and Packers fan. More than anything, Katherine loved her time spent with her family the best. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Sandra (Vern) Lee, Roger (Rosemary) Springsteen, all of Racine, Daniel Springsteen of Bullhead City, AZ; seven grandchildren, Christine (Edward) Raasch of Tomahawk, Valerie (Scott) Fosbinder of Franksville, Dorine (Kenneth) Keleske of Seymour, John (Nicole) Springsteen, Mark Springsteen, Michael Springsteen, all of Racine, Amanda Springsteen of Las Vegas, NV; eight great-grandchildren, Edward (Jessie) Raasch Jr., Renee Raasch, Sam and Sarah Fosbinder, Kelsey and Cody Keleske, John Jr. and Cathryn Springsteen; two great-great-grandchildren, Devin Raasch and Ethan Trayes; two sisters, Madgel Schluga of Lake Geneva and Irma Sanders of Rockford, IL; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday August 19, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Russel Stommel officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie for all of their loving and compassionate care given to Katherine.
