He was born and raised on a farm near Jackson, Minnesota on July 2, 1921, son of the late Enoch Richard and Verna Samantha (nee: Miller) Christensen. When he was eight years old his family moved to Racine. He graduated from Park High School. During WWII Robert served in the Army Air Force as a B-17 Bombardier/Navigator instructor. On March 14, 1944, he was married to Evelyn M. Sorensen in Childress, Texas.

Bob devoted 39 years at Rainfair, Inc. where he was the Director of Purchasing. He was an active and faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, and served in many capacities of the lay leadership. Bob found satisfaction in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers, and the Racine Kiwanis. He also liked to golf, spending time in his workshop, and had a penchant for telling “Ollie and Sven” jokes.

He is survived by his children, Jon (Patti) Christensen of Franklin, Gary (Laurie) Christensen of Minnetrista, Minnesota, Jane (Forrest) Dockery of Simi Valley, California, and Susie Fox of Racine; seven grandchildren, Whitaker Christensen, Joel Christensen, Catherine Christensen, Chad Dockery, Amy Dockery, Ani Injasoulian and Leo Fox; great-grandson, Maddox Christensen; brother, Jack Christensen; as well as many other relatives and friends, including his “Little Brother” Jeff Fidler, his wife Annie, and children Alison, Mandy and Ashley all of Racine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his brother, Ramon Christensen; and sister, Fernie Diimig.

Memorial services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2008, with Rev. James Barsch officiating. All are invited to arrive at the church to visit with his family beginning at noon. Interment at Graceland Cemetery will be private. Memorials to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Habitat for Humanity, or the Okoboji Bible Camp in Spirit Lake, Iowa, have been suggested.

Our family offers many thanks to everyone at Home Harbor, Odyssey Healthcare, and all his caregivers and friends. Your care and time given to him can never be repaid.
