Joseph M. Sill, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints.
He was born on April 22, 1919, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Mike and Mary (nee: Webster) Sill. Joseph was a resident of Racine for most of his life. On September 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Irma Burdick. Joseph served in the United States Navy for three years. He was a truck driver for Knox Motor Service and Associated Truck Lines, which he retired from. Joe was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, Teamsters Local #43 and American Legion Post #310. Joe enjoyed hunting in Wyoming and Montana and fishing in Lake Michigan.
Surviving is his son and daughter-in-law, James (Chris) Sill of Eau Claire, WI; three grandchildren, Brenda Sill, Major Scott (Mary) Sill and Joseph Sill; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern Tingwald of Racine. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Irma on July 22, 1994; sisters, Genieve and Agnes; two brothers, Ernie and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 5109 Washington Ave., on Monday, August 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Awilda Nolla officiating. Burial to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Sunday, August 17, 2008, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and at church on Monday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ Church United Methodist have been suggested.
Joseph’s family would like to thank the staff at Ridgewood Care Center, Two East, for the fine care he received during his stay there and to the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints.
