Kenneth Robert Painter, 84, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 3, 2008. He was born in Seattle, WA on June 16, 1924, to the late Kenneth A. and Palma S. Painter. He was united in marriage to Winnie Painter in Racine on April 15,1950; she preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 2003. He then was united in marriage to Margaret M. Sommer on Oct. 28, 2006. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, in the 446th Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force.
He was self-employed and also worked at UW-Parkside. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Racine and the VFW Post 1391.
He is survived by his wife; Margaret M. Painter, sons; Robert, Ronald (Mary Elizabeth), Joel (Mary); daughter, Laurie (Tim Jones); step-children, Bonnie Harris, G. Allen (Dorothy) Thrasher, Tom (Sandy) Thrasher, Carolyn (Joe) Brueck; grandchildren, Serena, Brandon, Ryan, Mollie, Cory, Tracy, Jeffrey, Lisa, Jennifer, Brian, Wendy, Chad, Ryan, Michelle and Justin; great-grandchildren, Kailey, Alex and Patrick.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at noon, with Cindy Aasen officiating. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St., Union Grove. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
