Vincent G. Sweeti

Vincent G. Sweeti, 84, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at Hospice House in Kenosha. He was born in Racine on December 16, 1923, son of the late William and Margaret (Nee: Manderfield) Sweeti.

Vincent served in the U.S. Army Air Force. During his career he worked construction for twenty years and was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service for many years until his retirement in 1988. Vincent was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church; he enjoyed bowling, fishing, deer hunting and reading.

Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Cape of Racine, Debra (Billy) May of Georgia; grandchildren, Charles (Karen) Cape, Scott Cape, Danielle (Justin) Zitlow, Heather Worden and Sarah Sweeti; great grandchildren, Evan, Liam, Gage, Destiny and Olivia; brother and sister-in-law, George (Pat) Sweeti of Racine; sisters and brother-in-law, Maryann (John) Blickle of Franksville, Patricia Ruppel of Racine; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his twin sons, Donald and Dennis; his son-in-law, Thomas Cape;three brothers, Bill, Harry and Jimmy Sweeti; and four sisters, Catherine Varju, Stella Tussler, Margaret Sweeti and Georgia Shepard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at 6 p.m.. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet for visitation on Wednesday at 4:30 until time of Mass at the church. Memorials to one’s favorite Charity have been suggested.

A very special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff, the caregivers, especially Ann, at Hospice House for their loving and compassionate care given to Vincent.
