Dale R. Olesen

Dale R. Olesen, age 56, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, October 26, 2009, at his residence from an apparent heart attack. Dale was born in Racine, June 19, 1953, son of Raymond C. and Myrna M. (Nee: Nelson) Olesen and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

Dale was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1972” and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's Degree in art. On May 24, 1985, he was united in marriage to Robin K. Hansen. Dale co-owned O & H Danish Bakery, a family business, with his two brothers, Michael and Eric. He oversaw the facilities, operations and equipment of the three bakery locations.

Dale was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. Dale had a love for art that he shared with his daughter Ashley. He was an avid outdoorsman whose passions included fishing, hunting and especially spending time teaching and guiding his son, Nathan. Dale also enjoyed his friendship with his hunting buddies, Chris Lie, Mark Pawlowski, Gary Martin and good friends and neighbors, Tom Harty and Andy Kothe. He belonged to the Winchester Gun Club, West Allis Bowmen, Little John’s Archery, and All Rock Prairie Goose Club. Most of all Dale will be forever remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and his many memorable hunting and fishing stories. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Robin; his two children, Ashley (Nicholas) DeBaker and Nathan Olesen; his parents, Raymond (Myrna) Olesen; brothers, Michael (Mary) Olesen and Eric (Lisa) Olesen; nieces and nephews, Carly (Patrick) Brady, Kevin (Angi) Olesen, Mallory (David) Willing, Alyson (Matthew) Horton, and Peter Olesen; mother-in-law, Bettie Hansen; sister-in-law, Shannon (David) Schoenberger; Godparents, Don and Enola Loomis; other relatives, Florence Olesen and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and by his father-in-law, Robert Hansen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. 6th St., with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church, R.A.M., or to Ducks Unlimited have been suggested.
