Judge Jon B. Skow

Caledonia- Judge Jon B. Skow, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on October 28, 2009.

Judge Skow was born to the late George D. and Henriette (nee: Buresh) on January 14, 1943, and lived his entire life in Racine. He was united in marriage for over 20 years to Karen (nee: Jensen) Skow.

Jon graduated from Culver Military academy in 1961 and proudly served in the Army 82nd Airborne and Army Intelligence Service from 1962-1965. He then went on to earn a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as J.D. from Kent College of Law in 1973. He was employed as Racine County Circuit Court Judge from 1977 until his retirement from the bench in 1993.

Jon was involved in numerous organizations including the 82nd airborne division organization, Kiwanis club of Greater Racine, Racine County Opportunity Center, Mayor’s Commission on Human Rights, Racine Community Concerts, State Bar Association, and the Southeast Wisconsin Council Boy Scouts on which, he served on the Board of Directors.

Jon is survived by his son, Carl Skow; sister, Wendy Brown; sister-in-law, Keiko Skow; three nieces, Wendy, Tomoe, and Yumi; and good friend, George Iverson. He was preceded in death by his brother, George D. Skow; and son, Jon B. Skow, Jr.

A public visitation for Judge Skow will be held on Monday November 2, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Mound Cemetery on Tuesday November 3, 2009. Those wishing to process to the cemetery will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
