Robert E. Kandl Jr. 71, passed away Wednesday October 7, 2009, at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital. Robert was born in Chicago on March 15, 1938, son of Robert E. and Rose (nee: Holbik) Kandl Sr.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On October 3, 1959, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Bob was united in marriage to JoAnn E. Lee. They just celebrated fifty beautiful years together. He was the owner and president of Magna Tool Corporation for thirty-one years. He was a dedicated and active member at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Bob was a vice president of entertainment at the German Club and was active with the Eagle Scout troop #5. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, JoAnn; his three children, Michael (Anita) Kandl, Jodie (Eric) Webber, all of Racine, Shelly (John) Mertins of Melbourne, FL; 10 grandchildren, Shannyn, Stephanie, Melissa, and Shelby Kandl, Nichole and Sean Pitchford, Jessica and Taylor Gorman, Drew and Luke Mertins; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nancy Litrenta, Carol Lee, both of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert; a grandson, John Thomas Mertins, brother-in-law, Clayton Lee, and his sister-in-law, Pamela (Rodger) Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 725 High St., on Tuesday October 13, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Hwy C, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 5 p.m.. - 7 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
