Roger D. Fink, 76, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Saturday, October 17, 2009, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Roger was born in Colby, WI, on June 22, 1933, to Christian and Pearl (nee:Lietzke) Fink. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Roger married Barbara Robson at Trinity Evangelical Church on November 27, 1965. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2008. He worked at American Motors and JI Case Company, retiring in 1991. Roger was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church serving as past trustee. He was a member of American Legion Post 434 in Oak Creek and served on the American Legion Honor Guard. Roger was also a member of the JI Case Heritage Foundation, JI Case 20 year club, Holiday Rambler camping and travel club, Pioneer Farm Machinery Club and Shoreland High School booster club. Roger belonged to Friends of Seniors and did Bingo there; he also volunteered at the Wise Penny thrift store. Roger enjoyed traveling, spending time at his place in Eagle River and at the campground there. He liked to play computer games and work in the yard. He also enjoyed meeting and talking to new people. Most importantly, Roger loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Andrea (Charles) Lundgren and Victoria Fink; grandchildren, Amanda (Christopher Bruno) Lundgren and Benjamin Lundgren; great-grandsons, Kristoffer and Ian Douglas Bruno; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon (Pat) Fink, Duane Fink and Robert (Connie) Fink and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille (Mike) Schuerman, Violet (Cas) Duba, Phyllis Degerstedt and Darlene (Jim) Peterson. Roger is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arlan “Archie” Fink;, infant brother, Vilas Fink; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doreen (Lee) Wolff; and father and mother-in-law, George and Ann Robson.
Funeral service for Roger will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7900 Nicholson Road, on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Emile Burgess officiating. Interment will take place in So. WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
