Emma F. (Lucareli) Bonini

Emma F. Bonini, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Emma was born in Racine on January 21, 1913, the daughter of the late Cosimo and Rose (Nee: Puzzo) Lucareli. She was a lifelong resident of Racine.

On November 6, 1937, at Holy Name Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Ernest F. Bonini, who preceded her in death, June 23, 1994. Emma was employed for many years at Racine Dry Goods. A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Emma’s greatest joy came from cooking, knitting, crocheting and caring for her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol (John) Neufeld of Racine, WI, her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald (Carol) Bonini of Kenosha, WI, her daughter and son-in-law, Terry (Donald) Carey of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren, Lisa M. Bixler, Lori (Matt) Fritz, John B. Neufeld, Ann (Phil) Lambert, Karen (Mark) Fetherston, Anthony Bonini, David Schuebel, Jason (Michelle) Schuebel; her great-grandchildren, Amy Bixler, Jessica Fritz, Emma (James) Cornelius, K’Lynn and Cassidy Lambert, Stuart and Nathan Fetherston, Brandon and Alexandra Schuebel, Aaron and Noah Schuebel; sister, Edith Fiori; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, PFC Evan A. Bixler, killed in action in Hit, Iraq, on Dec. 24, 2006; sister, Adeline Aceto; brothers, Marion Lucareli, Vincent Lucareli, Alfred Lucareli, Arthur Lucareli and Albert Lucareli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass.

We are extremely grateful to all the staff and caregivers of Becker-Shoop and Hospice Alliance for the loving, compassionate care given not only to our mother but to all our family as well.

In appreciation, we request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials for Mom be directed to Becker-Shoop Center or Hospice Alliance.
