Danny Ray Thomas, 43, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Sunday, October 12, 2008, following a four-month battle with Leukemia.
Danny Ray was born in Minter City, Mississippi, on October 3, 1965, to Mathew and Margie (nee: Perkins) Thomas, Sr.
Danny Ray was employed by Warren Packaging as a Line Leader until his health began to fail. He enjoyed fishing; playing cards; cooking – especially spaghetti; and could work a BBQ grill like nobody else. Above all, Danny loved being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his father, Mathew Thomas, Sr.; sisters, Nancy (James) McDougal and Viola Jennings; brothers, Elder Jimmie (Yolanda) Thomas, Glenn Thomas and Kent Thomas; special friend, Lisa Blankman; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention by name.
Danny Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Thomas; brother, Mathew “Buddy” Thomas Jr.; and infant brother, Jesse Thomas.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Elder Jimmie Thomas officiating. In accordance with Danny Ray’s wishes, cremation will follow the service with interment taking place in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
