Walter “Wally” Carl Bulmann, 83, passed away at WFH-All Saints Medical Center on Tuesday, October 21, 2008.
Wally was born in Bellwood, IL, on July 11, 1925, to the late Carl and Emma (nee: Reschke) Bulmann. Growing up, he attended school in Franksville and spent countless hours, working tirelessly, on his family farm. On May 24, 1947, in St. John Lutheran Church of Racine, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Delores Mae (nee: Prott).
Wally was a talented automobile mechanic, working for various dealers of Racine including Don Hutson, Yellow Motors and Driver Motors. He also was employed as a production tester for Twin Disc until his retirement in 1984.
Wally was a member of the Twin Disc 20 Year Club. Among his interests, he enjoyed bowling; building and flying radio-controlled airplanes; and trying his luck on the slot machines. Above all, Wally’s greatest joy in life was being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Delores; their children, Nancy Bulmann, Jane (Melvin) Coey, Diana (Gerard) DeGrand, Carol (Tom) Meddaugh and Kenneth (Mary) Bulmann; grandchildren, Mark (Linda Dresen) Coey and Kim (Kevin) Coey; Katherine, Nicole and Keith (Holly Vander Werff) DeGrand; Heather Godfrey, Joseph Seitz, Ashley and Kaitlin Meddaugh; Cecelia (Erick) Baccus; Emily, Jamie and Nicholas Bulmann; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott, Madisin and Brooklyn Coey; and MacKenzie Baccus; sister, Ruth Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Daniel) Martell, Margaret (George) Jacobsen, Elizabeth Peterson and Mary Jane Gerber; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to his parents, Wally was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann (Mike) Sperando and Dorothy (Ralph) Newcander; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Sullivan and Gilbert Peterson.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. M.A. Miritz officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 - 10:30 am. In memory of Wally, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association have been suggested.
A heartfelt note of thanks to all the physicians, nurses and staff at WFH-All Saints Medical Center for the compassionate care and support that was so gently extended during Wally’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
