Donald Hugh Trebra, 82, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 11, 1926, to the late Paul H. and Helene (nee: Harges) Trebra. He lived in Racine since August 1974. He lived in Burlington, IA, from 1961-1974. He was united in marriage to the former Ardath J. Overman in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 17, 1952. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Quartermaster.
He worked as the Material Control Supervisor at J.I. Case Co. from 1961-1983. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Vice-President of the Church Council, Chairman of Personnel and Stewardship committee and the Board of Trustees. He was a faithful member of the Men's Bible Study. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. He loved sports especially golfing and bowling. Several times he arranged golf outings for the church and J.I. Case. But most of all he loved and enjoyed the company of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ardath Trebra; two children; son, David (Beth) Trebra of Lenexa, KS; daughter, Janice (Todd) Romance of Brecksville, OH; four grandchildren; Lauren and Kyle Romance, Matthew and Katherine Trebra; one brother, Paul E. (Alyce) Trebra of Niantic, CT; one sister-in-law, Carol Telschow of Kendallville, IN; nieces, nephews and many good friends.
A Memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St., on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Barsch officiating. Inurnment will be held at Southeastern WI Veterans Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
