Mrs. Eleanor Schoeffler (nee: Golz) 84, passed away at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Kenosha on Friday October 3, 2008.
Eleanor was born in Columbus on June 6, 1924, to the late Paul and Martha (nee: Splieth) Golz and had lived in Racine most of her life. She was united in marriage to Frederick E. Schoeffler on December 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1990.
Mrs. Schoeffler had been employed as the secretary of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for twenty-five years and had also been a homemaker. She was an active member of Holy Cross, and participated in Holy Cross bible study group. She loved volunteering at Racine Lutheran High Thrift shop and, was known for her love of gardening, flowers, needlework and preparing family gatherings.
Eleanor is survived by her five children, Judith (Randall) Nelsen, Linda Schoeffler, David Schoeffler, all of Racine, Susan (James) Sanford of Madison, and Joanne (Randolph) Olson, also of Racine; three grandchildren, Jamie Auman, Brian (Chris) Auman, and Michael Edler; three great grandchildren Nickoliss, Jacob, and Alexis Auman; step-grandchildren Taner Nelsen, Debbie, Michelle, and Paul Olson; two brothers, Guilbert Golz and the Reverend Roland Golz; special nieces and nephews John, Jim, Debbie, Patti, April, and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Lester and a sister, Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3350 Lathrop Ave., on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at noon with Reverend Behling and Reverend Roland Golz officiating. Internment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Holy Cross from 10 a.m.. until service time. Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Racine Lutheran High School, or Golden Living Nursing Home.
