Mary Anne Pietkivitch, 78, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Stafford Manor after a long illness.
Mary Anne was born in Racine on April 17, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Anna (nee: Fechner) Hackler. She was united in marriage to Albert Pietkivitch in Racine on July 30, 1949.
Mary Anne was a graduate of UW-Parkside with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mary Anne was a faithful member of Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church since 1966. She retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in 1994 as Head of Hematology. She found great enjoyment in knitting, crocheting, crosstitch, word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary Anne is survived by Albert, her husband of 59 years, and her children, Julie Pietkivitch of Racine, Sue (Steve) Brinkman of Kenosha, Jane Pietkivitch of Aiken, S.C., and James (Melanie) Pietkivitch of Sun Prairie. She is further survived by her loving and adoring grandchildren: Lauren Brinkman and TJ Pietkivitch; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Hackler of Racine and Walter (Emily) Hackler of Newport, Beach, CA; and by other relatives and dear friends. Mary Anne was preceded in death by one son, Robert Pietkivitch in 2002, and her parents.
Memorial Services for Mary Anne will be held at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, 625 College Ave. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 6 p.m. with Rev. Tony Larsen officiating. There will be a gathering with the family at the church on Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Olympia Brown Church would be greatly appreciated.
The Pietkivitch family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Stafford Manor and Asera Care Hospice for the loving care they provided.
