Delbert 'Del' S. Brown

Del Brown, 87, died at the Golden Living Center of Kenosha on Friday, October 24, 2008.

He was born in Sparta on May 19, 1921, the son of the late Ernest and Maud (nee: Goff) Brown. On October 20, 1944, he married the former Lorraine Dibble at Holy Communion Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1998.

Mr. Brown served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps while stationed in Japan during WWII. He retired from Twin Disc after 33 years of service as a machinist.

In addition to his membership in the Twin Disc 20 Year Club he was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, fishing and deer hunting. He enjoyed his later years watching and cheering for all his local sports teams, especially the Packers and Badgers. However, his favorite times were those spent in the surroundings of his family.

His survivors include his children, Dianna Ellingson, Richard “Dick” (Penny) Brown, Linda (fiance, Terry Zastrow) Hermann, Leaura (Gordy) Pallesen, Darel Brown, Dan Brown, Lisa Platt, David (Andrea) Brown and Lanette (Paul) Hannes, all of Racine; grandchildren, Paul (Erin), Ron (Diana), Shawn, Amy (Leon), Bobby, Jasen, Jamie, Lance (Sara), Darren (Hillary), Grant, Garrett, Collin, Dustin, Blaine, Hunter, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Brittany and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Timothy, Christian, Alexis, Marcus, Kiara, Kaylein, Jenna, Katie, Casey, Madison, Gavin, Kylie and Taylor; sisters and brothers, Margaret Johnson, Sandra (Bob) Ealey, Nyle (Dorothy) Brown, Kenny (Marion) Brown all of Sparta, WI, Leo Brown of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Brown, Della Brown of Sparta, Vern (Ovella) Dibble of Pensacola, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his dear wife Lorraine, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronald Platt; brothers, Lloyd, Stub, LaVern; sister, Bonita; and sisters-in-law, Leone (Robert) Servold and Shirley Brown.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Rd., on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. for the celebration of his life and funeral service with Rev. Kara F. Baylor officiating. His entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday from 5-7 p.m. and in the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
