Mary Ann Poehls, 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Wheaten Franciscan Hospital - All-Saints.
She was born in Racine, on June 30, 1922, the daughter of William and Mary (nee: Kisida) Lengell. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Glenn Poehls on October 9, 1954, in Racine at Sacred Heart Parish. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, and was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish.
Mary Ann found great enjoyment in gardening, camping in Door County and with her husband traveled throughout the United States, viewing and enjoying all 50 states, along with traveling extensively throughout Europe.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Glenn; three sons, Laurence (Marianne) Poehls, of Glendale, California, William (Mary) Poehls of Hartland, and John of Racine; two grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Poehls; and two sisters in law. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean Marie; and three brothers, William, Eugene and Steven Lengell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ronald Crewe officiating. Burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday, from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart Church, or Trinity Lutheran Church have been suggested by the Poehls family.
