Robert J. Asplund, 87, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Robert was born in Racine to the late Ellerth and Ellsie (nee: Johnson) Asplund on May 14, 1921. He had lived in Racine his whole life. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Lois Barr on September 26, 1947.
Mr. Asplund was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army and was employed many years as a general manager of 7-Up Bottling Company. He was also a member of the original Kiwanis, the Masonic Lodge, the Knights of Pythias, and the D.O.K.K. of Pythias.
Robert is survived by his wife Lois; three nieces, Jean Susan (nee: Johnson) and Robert Libkind of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara Jean and Gary Walker of Gilbert, Arizona, and Susan Carol and Michael O'Brien of Campbell, California; his great-nephew, Christopher Scott Walker of Gilbert, Arizona; cousins; and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Road, on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Christine Thomas-Echelbarger officiating.
