June Urania Brower

June Urania (nee: Thravalos) Brower, 85, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at her residence.

She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on June 7, 1923, the daughter of Steven D. and Anna L. (nee: Newman) Thravalos. She was a 1940 graduate of Washington Park High School. On May 29, 1948, June was united in marriage to Robert O. Brower at Holy Communion Lutheran Church. She retired from Porter’s Furniture Co. in 2002 after 47 years of service. June was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Belle City Seniors of Racine, birthday clubs and monthly card parties. She loved to crochet, take senior bus trips with her sister, Nancy Nelson, especially the Mystery Bus Trips where she never knew what the destination would be.

Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law; David O. (Susan) Brower, Dennis R. (Cindy) Brower and Ronald S. Brower; son-in-law, Brian Cranford of Oregon: eight grandchildren, Jennifer Boom, Julie Brown both of Oregon, Stephanie Czosnek of West Allis, Kate M. Brower of Sheboygan, Nicholas Brower, Samantha Echeverria both of Racine, Stephen Brower and Mercedes Brower both of Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Sequoia Boom, Dakota Boom, Jillian Czosnek, Evelynn Czosnek, Bryant O. Brost, Oliver Brower and twins Zoie and Roxxci Brower; sisters, Alice (Bernard) Mianecki of Rice Lake and Nancy (Jerome) Nelson of Racine. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on October 2, 1992; daughter, Sharon M. Cranford and sister, Helen (Everett) Petersen.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 6th St., on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 10:30 a.m with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Sturino funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Belle City Senior Center or WWII Disabled Veterans, 96th Fighter Squadron, Army of the United States, 82nd Fighter Group Assn. c/o John Parliman, Secretary/Treasurer 1566 East Saint Charles Place, Inverness, FL 34453, have been suggested.
