Mt. Pleasant- Mrs. Dolores (nee: Peterson) Barke, 79, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare- All Saints on Saturday July 11, 2009.
Dolores was born on January 16, 1930, to the late Jay and Isabelle (nee: Smith) Peterson and lived her entire life in Racine. On January 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to John E. Barke. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2000.
Mrs. Barke was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church and was a lifelong volunteer who served in various local organizations.
Dolores is survived by her six children, Peter (Sandra) Barke of Lake Mills, IA, Bill (Terri) Barke of Torrance, CA, Tom (Cheri) Barke of Neenah, Dan Barke of Racine, Nancy (Bruce) Harwood of Lyons, and Sally (Marty) Klatkiewicz of Keller, TX; 10 grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Claire Peterson of Hartford; and one brother-in-law, Walter Barke of Racine. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Peterson; and sister, June Peterson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barke will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
