Earl M. Carlson, 81, passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2009, at W.F.H. All Saints. He was born on November 19, 1927, in Racine, the son of Cornelius and Deborah (nee: Larson) Carlson.
Earl was united in marriage to Carlotta Fritchen on Memorial Day, 1958. He was employed at James Cape & Sons retiring after 39 years of service, and later went on to work at Bank of Elmwood for 12 years.
Earl was a former member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and a current member of First Reformed Church. He was always a very active member of his church families including singing in the choir, church councils and property committees. Earl served in the United States Marines, stationed in China and Guam. He could always be found at Hardee’s morning coffee group on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Earl is survived by his daughter, Cory J Hoffmann, and son Cody Earl Hoffmann both of Racine, son Earl B. “Skip” (Virgeen) Carlson and their children, Danielle and Trevor all of Racine, two sisters, Alida Newman of Racine and Debby (Barney) Bertinuson of North Dakota. He is also survived by stepchildren, Dennis (Carla) Dyhr of Greendale, Daryl (Edith) Dyhr of New Berlin, and Sandra (Michael) Geiger of Grayslake, IL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Earl is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlotta, on March 24, 1997; three brothers, Kenneth, Belmont and Arnold; and two sisters, Katherine and Margaret.
Funeral services for Earl will be held at First Reformed Church, 7110 Old Spring St., on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Cary Winn officiating. Burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a .m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Reformed Church have been suggested by the Carlson family.
