Orin C. Taylor, age 77, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Woodstock Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Chicago, IL, October 26, 1931, son of the late Atty. Elyseo and Ruth (Nee: Carter) Taylor.
Orin graduated from DePaul University with majors in science, physical education, and English and a minor in political science. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity where he served as secretary and treasurer. On August 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Peggy Ellen Davis. Orin served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1958 stationed in Germany. He worked for the Chicago Park Systems and was the supervisor for Jackson Park. He also was employed as principal and teacher in various high schools in the Chicago area.
In 1968 he relocated to Racine where he worked at S.C. Johnson Company. Orin was an entrepreneur operating several businesses in Chicago and Racine. Orin taught school in the Racine Unified School District for 25 years and will be remembered as a teacher and humanitarian. He also was the manager of McDonald’s Restaurant on Douglas Avenue for many years. Orin served on the Racine Environmental Committee and on the board of OIC. He enjoyed reading, tropical fish, tennis, golf, baseball, handball, music and Aikido. Above all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Peggy Ellen; his two sons, Orin K. Taylor of Antelope, CA, Joel K. Taylor of Plymouth, MN; his three grandchildren, Orin Jr., Asleigh, and Vanessa Ellen; two brothers, Michael (Cheryl) Taylor of Matteson, IL, Milton Taylor of New York; sister-in-law, Mabel Davis Bibb of Golden Valley, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; and a sister Rev. Elizabeth “Brenda” Taylor.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 24, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held in Alsip, IL.

Orin Taylor was a great man, he will be missed by all who know him!
Wonderful mentor, teacher, great man with incredible warmth, humor, kindness and wisdom. He will be remembered by so many who loved him.
He filled up his life, always busy.
