Geraldine R. ‘Geri’ (nee: Nissen) Ebe, 85, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009, at Hospitality Nursing Home in Kenosha. Geri was born in Milwaukee on June 21, 1924, the daughter of George and Anna (nee: Borger) Nissen.
Geri graduated from Washington Park High School, “Class of 1942.” She was united in marriage to Edward H. Ebe on November 16, 1946, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. Geri loved sewing and making crafts, along with being renowned for her cooking and baking.
She was employed over the years at Western Publishing, Doyle Handymark, Eitel’s and Boston Store.
Geri loved to travel with her husband and go camping with her family. She was very involved in the Miss Racine pageant along with being a chaperone for Miss Racine and active as a pageant judge in various cities throughout Wisconsin. She also loved every opportunity to spend time with her two grandsons.
Geri is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia (Fred) Vogt; grandsons, Darrin Vogt and Steven Vogt; brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Jo) Nissen, and Wally (Joanne) Nissen. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Racine further survive her.
Memorial services will be at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. 6th St., on Monday, July 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. (Due to church renovation, services will be held in the Mark Hurn Room.) There will be a memorial visitation at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Inurnment of cremains following services will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church or St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home.
