Elsie Krenzke, 94, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Monday, July 6, 2009.
Elsie was born in Racine on December 13, 1914, to William and Martha (nee: Bartz) Krenzke. She attended school in Racine, graduating from Horlick High School. Elsie continued her education at Moore’s College in the secretarial program. She then went to work as an executive secretary at Massey-Harris, moving on to J I Case Company until her retirement in 1980.
Elsie was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, devoting a generous amount of her time to many organizations there. Over the years she was a member of the Walther League, choir, L.W.M.L., and the Mission Guild. Besides her church activities, Elsie liked to travel and was able to visit 48 states. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Elsie is survived by two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Elsie will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie St., on Monday, July 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn officiating. Interment will take place in Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church have been suggested.
Elsie’s family would like to thank all of her friends from church and elsewhere who visited Elsie at Lincoln Village. Many thanks to the staff at Lincoln Village and Hospice Alliance for their care and compassion. And a very special thank you to Elsie’s roommate and companion, Minnie Longo, for the years of friendship.
