Betty Joyce (Auntie 'B') Wahl

Ms. Betty Wahl, 78, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints on Sunday, May 3, 2009, with her family at her side.

Ms. Wahl was born to the late Theodore and Margret (nee: Jaeger) Wahl in Milwaukee on April 27, 1931, and had lived most of her life in Racine. Betty was born in Milwaukee, raised on a Racine County farm, and attended schools in Racine and Burlington. Betty survived polio since 1949.

Betty's emphasis on life has been what she CAN and that she did, sewing stuffed animals and made a lot of crafts items, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Betty was very involved with the Wisconsin Wawbeeck Activity Club for handicapped.

She had been employed as a receptionist at Curative Workshop for over 37 years until her retirement in 1995. She was also an active member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, Sunday School, and the Church board of Education.

Betty is survived by one brother, Charles Wahl; and a sister-in-law,Jacqueline Wahl; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Wahl; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Bill Krause; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Nancy Wahl; sister-in-law, Helen Wahl; two nephews, Michael and Carl Krause; and a great-nephew, Bob Bruss, Jr.

Funeral services for Ms. Wahl will be held at Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, 1426 N. Fancher Rd., on Friday May 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. Internment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Thursday May 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Chapel of the Cross building fund.

Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Jacqueline Wahl, Maggie Larsen, Cathy Loeser, and Ruth Feldscher, for their help and support through the many years.
