George J. Markson, age 75, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Mr. Markson was born in Racine, June 7, 1933, son of the late Henry and Eleanor (Nee: Pier) Markson and had been a lifelong Racine resident.
Mr. Markson was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1951.” He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Mr. Markson was employed by the Wisconsin Gas and Electric Company for many years. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, an active member of Catholic Men’s Association, Apostulate of Suffering, and the Bryant Center Card Playing Club. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his brother, Jerome Markson of Racine; his sister and brother-in-law, Bernadette (Clarence “Larry”) Tures of Tyler, TX; five nieces and nephews, Sharon (Paul) Hashim of Plano, TX, Susan (Timothy) Fallon of San Antonio, TX, Sandra (Joseph) Conway of Alpharetta, GA, Robert Tures of Lawrenceville, GA, George (Rebecca) Tures of League City, TX; nine great-nieces and nephews, Christine (Chad) Medaris, Andrew, Erin, and William Fallon, Lindsey and Shelby Conway, Matthew, Benjamin and Hollyn Tures; great-great nephew, John Medaris; other relatives and many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors will be celebrated at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church Faith in our Future Fund or to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
