Carl E. Christensen

Carl E. Christensen, 84, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday May 19, 2009, with his family by his side. He was born in Racine on May 1, 1925, the son of Christ M. and Agnes (nee: Winther) Christensen. Carl was united in marriage to Mabel R. Sherwood, in Prairie du Chien on June 28, 1952. They enjoyed 57 years together. He proudly served in the United States Navy-Seabees, during World War II.

Carl’s Christian faith and beliefs guided him through his life and helped him through his longtime illness. He was employed at S.C. Johnson as a mechanic (boiler operator) retiring after many years of service.

Carl found great enjoyment in golf, fishing, bowling, hunting, skiing, country rides, family get-togethers and travels.

Carl is survived by his wife, Mabel, and their daughter, Cheryl Christensen, both of Racine; brothers, Gordon (Martha) Christensen of Sun City, FL, and Jim (Hildagarde) Christensen; sisters, Helen (Sam) Kachichian and Mary (Bernie) Tucker all of Racine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry (Barb) Sherwood of Neenah. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Tom Christensen.
