Surrounded by her family, Beverly Ann (nee, Mertins) Holbus passed away peacefully at Kindred Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
Beverly was born in Racine on July 15, 1927 to William A. and Ann (nee, Petersen) Mertins. She married Edward Holbus in Racine on June 25, 1948, and was blessed with over 60 years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, and listening to Big Band music. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Beverly was blessed with many wonderful family and friends whom she loved to entertain at holiday dinners and parties. She also helped run the family business, JNB International for many years.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Edward Holbus; children, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Holbus and their children, Nick and Eric of Racine; William (Gayla) Holbus and their son, Ben, of Union Grove; Cynthia and Nancy Holbus of Elk Grove, CA.; and Jim (Dorothy) Holbus and their children, Vaughn and Taylor of Norcross GA.; sister, Bernice Krueger; and her brother, Richard (Jan) Mertins. She is also survived by her beloved friends and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ann Mertins; brothers, William and Gilbert Mertins; her sister, JoAnne McCray and Great Grandson Ethen McDonald .
Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, with Father Brian Holbus officiating. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and the service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Kindred Hospital for their professional treatment and compassionate care for Beverly.
