Ilija Kostic

Ilija Kostic, 89, passed away early Thursday morning, May 14, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. Ilija was born in Serbia on June 18, 1919, son of the late Djordje and Savka (nee: Cvetkovic) Kostic and moved to the United States in 1951.

He was last employed with Gateway Technical College for eighteen years until his retirement in 1982. Previously, he had been employed with Walker Mfg. and Belle City Malleable. He was a member of St. George Serbian Church. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years, Gisela; his daughter and son-in-law, Ilona V. (John) Willing all of Racine; his granddaughter, Tiffany Willing (Stephen) Dillinger; great-grandchildren, Paige and Daniel Dillinger, all of Chicago; brother, Todor Kostic of Leskovac, Serbia; sister-in-law, Ellen Peltz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother-in-law, Werner (Waltraud) Horneburg of Hamburg, Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Svetozar (Darka) Kostic, Simon (Zorka) Kostic, Slavko Kostic; and sister, Milunka (Svetomir) Krstic.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 5 p.m. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until time of service. Memorials to St. George Serbian Church, 6108 Braun Road, Racine, WI 53403 have been suggested.
