Frank F. Bellovary

Frank Francis Bellovary, 92, passed away peacefully, the morning of Tuesday, May 19, 2009.

Frank was born in Gary, Indiana, on November 5, 1916, to Joseph & Anna (nee:Galvacsky) Bellovary.

Frank married his true love, Flora Antoinette Rago on February 1, 1941, at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, where he has been a longtime member. He was employed at JI Case for 32 years retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Case 20-Year Club, Local 180 Retirees, Senior Advantage and the Lucyioners He was an avid gardener, loved his birds and was a fantastic cook (Best darn “Johnny-cakes” in town!).

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Flora; their three children, Joyce (Paul) Schenkenberg of Madison; Dorothy (William) Bushell of Racine and Frank D. Bellovary and Cathy Bellovary of Waukesha; grandchildren, Rebecca McCulloch, Scott (Debra) Schenkenberg, Christopher (Dianne) Schenkenberg, Ann (John) Burke, William D. Bushell (fiancé Wendy Bargholtz), Jane Bushell, Anthony (Hollie) Bellovary, and Nicholas (Angela) Bellovary; great-grandchildren, Erika and Jake McCulloch, Connor Schenkenberg, Alissa and Johnny Burke; Amanda, Sawyer, Ava and Eliza Bellovary. He is further survived by his sisters, Mary (Steve) Adzima and Veronica Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Robert Bellovary; brothers, John (Helen) Bellovary, George Bellovary, Louis (Dorothy) Bellovary, Joseph (Rose) Bellovary; sister Ann (Chester) Rygasewicz and brother-in-law Robert Cole.

Frank was a traveler, gardener, fisherman and historian. He enjoyed and appreciated the simple pleasures in life. His greatest gift to others was his unconditional love and kindness. Grandpa loved to live and lived to love. Those who knew him well were blessed to have been touched by the life of a true gentle man.

Family will receive friends at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home the evening of Thursday, May 21, from 5 until 7 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Frank’s wonderful life will be held on Friday, May 22, at 2 p.m. in St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Reverend Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. A reception will take place, following the cemetery, at Roma Lodge. Visitation will also be in the church on Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. In Frank’s memory, memorials have been suggested to St. Lucy’s Catholic Church.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Pierce-Ruhland - his nurse, Karen - and their entire staff for the many years of compassionate care; to Frank’s dedicated friend, Ray Rheaume, for all the time devoted; and to our treasured family and friends, especially Frank’s grandchildren, who constantly surrounded him with their love and support. Frank truly loved all of you for everything you have done for him!
