Jeanine Ann Sus

Jeanine Ann (nee: von Germeten) Sus, 62, beloved wife of Joseph E. Sus, passed away at home on Saturday, January 9, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A lifetime resident, Jean was born in Racine on January 29, 1947, to the late Raymond J. and Margaret J. (nee: Bongarts) von Germeten. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1965.

On September 28, 1968, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with Joseph Edward Sus. She was a proud homemaker and home school mother for their entire marriage. With a profound Catholic faith, Jean was an active member of the Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Chapel. After the Chapel closed, she attended Mass at St. Lucy Parish in Racine and St. Peter Parish in Kenosha. Among her interests, Jean enjoyed painting – especially religious statues, gardening and being with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her loving husband of over 41 years, Joe; their children, Karyn Christine (Brian) O’Neel of Necedah; Michelle Marie (Paul) Busateri of Franksville; Josef Eric (Jennifer) Sus of Racine; and Angela Jeanne Sus of Racine; grandchildren, Michael, John Patrick, Kaitlin, Aidan, Rosie and Liam O’Neel; Ethan and Natalia Sus, Gabriella and Joseph Busateri; sisters, Valerie Dayon, Cherrie (Gordie) Johnston and Wendy Von; brothers, Geoffrey, Gerard and Dean von Germeten; brother-in-law, Robert J. Sus; sister-in-law, Sandra Sus; nieces and nephews, Steven Otto, Melissa Koerber, Jennifer Fude, Rachel Otto; Daryl, Scott, Kyle and Sean DeGuire; Kristen Sus, Kimberley Wilson and Renee Sus; many other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Jo Sus; Joe’s parents, Joseph and Gertrude (nee: Hantschel) Sus; nephew, Todd DeGuire; brothers-in-law, John Sus and Craig DeGuire; and sister-in-law, Carole Sus.

The Requiem High Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church (corner of 30th Ave. and 23rd St. in Kenosha) with Rev. John J. Richetta officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Highway 31. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) and in the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the procession to the church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please have Tridentine Masses offered for the repose of Jean’s soul.

A special note of thanks to Dr. Michael Mullane, Odyssey Hospice and to all our family and friends for the compassionate care, prayers and support during these past months. May God bless all of you!
