Ursula C. (Sarto) Kant

Ursula C. Kant, age 87, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 8, 2010, in Phoenix, AZ, while visiting her son. She was born in Racine, November 15, 1922, to the late Dominic and Rose (Nee: Savasta) Sarto and lived most of her life in Racine.

Ursula was a graduate of William Horlick High School. On February 5, 1943, she was united in marriage to Raymond Kant Sr. Ursula worked for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Westown Foods. She loved to knit, read, socialize with her friends and dearly loved the sunshine of Arizona and Nevada.

She was always available and willing to assist in her senior community activities. She enjoyed spending her time with both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren reading and playing. She was know as “Big Grandma” to all, and always there with hugs and kisses. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Raymond (Kathy) Kant Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Edward (Deborah) Kant of Park Falls, WI; her daughters, Carolyn (Jeffrey) Jones of Kansasville, WI, Elizabeth Sookov of Union Grove, WI, Jennifer Bingen of Union Grove; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Lorna) Sarto, Patrick (Denise) Sarto, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives; special friend, Lloyd Thorton; and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kant Sr.; two brothers, Arthur and Roger “Bucky”; and two sisters, Sally and Robertina “Boots.”

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, January 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
