Bergith DeRose

Bergith (nee: Sorensen) DeRose, 82, passed away on, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. She was born in Denmark on June 26, 1927, the daughter of Otto and Agnes (nee: Astrup) Sorensen. Bergith was united in marriage to Alfred C. DeRose on June 26, 1948. She formerly was a member of First Church of God and later attended Grace Church. Bergith enjoyed crocheting, doing word search games, watching her birds and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters; Karen (Steve) Hall of Franksville and Lisa (Mark) Hyde of Waterford; five grandchildren, Sara (Christopher Witek) Hall, Rebecca Hall, Nathaniel Hyde, Katelyn Hyde and Grace Hyde; two sisters-in-law, Sarah DeRose and Phyllis DeRose. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Bergith was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on July 31, 1994; sisters and brother-in-law, Verda (Benjamin) Weber and Norma Bruno; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Ruth) DeRose, Ann (Charles) Domanico, Michael (Jennie) DeRose, Rocco DeRose and Joseph DeRose.
Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday, February 1, 2010, at noon with Rev. Sam Jackson officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday before services from 10 a.m. until service time.
