Joyce Marie Labre

Joyce Marie (nee: Belanger) Labre, 72, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at her residence. She was born on August 9, 1937, in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of George and Agnes (nee: Beauchamp) Belanger. Joyce attended Escanaba High School and then earned her nursing degree on November 20, 1957. Joyce was an LPN in Michigan and then the Milwaukee area, where she met her husband, William J. Labre. They were married on November 14, 1959, in Escanaba, MI. Joyce was an active member of St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church. She also liked to read, cook and travel. Most of all, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Hank) Nelson of Cottage Grove, MN, and Celeste McKloskey of Racine; grandchildren, Keith (Leslie) VanHolbeck, Cherie (Shon) Cobbs, Jamie (Nick) Valentia and Billy McKloskey, and nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Escanaba, Milwaukee and Racine and her church family at St. Mary’s.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, William, on May 23, 1999; son-in-law, John McKloskey; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (John) Reiffers; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Philip and Kathleen Labre.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Dr., on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger, Deacon Robert Starr and Deacon James Devona officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until mass time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
