Arthur Paul Nau

Arthur Paul Nau , affectionately known to many as ‘Art,' passed away at age 82 at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center on Monday, January 11, 2010. Art was born in Minnesota on June 26, 1927, to the late Gottfried and Elizabeth Nau.

He proudly served our Country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict in his younger years. On June 19, 1968, Art was united in marriage with the love of his life of 38 years, Josephine Marie (Hazen) (nee: Matranga) who preceded him in death on March 30, 2006.

He was employed from 1960 to 1985 by many auto body shops throughout Waukesha and Milwaukee, including Pendleton Oldsmobile, retiring from Frank Gentile Oldsmobile. Art was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A man of great strength and strong work ethic, he remained active by tending to his lawn, repairing mowers and equipment, playing cards, coin collecting, rock collecting and traveling. Above all, Art was a true family man who loved nothing more than being in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony Nau of Port Washington, WI, Thomas (Marylou) Nau of Big Bend WI, Madeline Nau of Waukesha WI, Edward (Katherine) Nau of Denver Colorado; stepsons and stepsisters, Michael (Stephanie) Hazen of St. Joseph MN, Gary Hazen of Moab UT, Bruce (Ingrid) Hazen of Tucson AZ, Brian (Phyllis) Hazen of Racine WI, Margaret Hollander of Virginia, Ursula Kinsfather of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren, Sarah Hazen of California, Bradley and Jonathan Hazen, Samantha Hazen, Sean Hazen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, wife, and siblings, Art was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ana Nau; and brother, Francis (Fred) Nau.

A Memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 4 p.m. with Rev. John D. Aiello officiating. Private interment will be held. Visitation at the Funeral Home is Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
