Francis J. Vollendorf

Francis J. Vollendorf, age 83, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Hales Corners on January 31, 1926, son of the late Gustave and Mary (Nee: Babe) Vollendorf.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bauer on July 12, 1947, at St. Rose Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Francis was employed by Oster Mfg. for twenty years and last employed by J.I. Case for over twenty years until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Mens Assn. He also was a member of J.I. Case “20 year club.” In his younger years, Fran played semi-pro fast pitch, he enjoyed fishing and golfing and was an avid Packer fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandkids, and will be forever remembered as a great role model.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; his daughter, Mary Burza; sons, Thomas (Carole) Vollendorf and Robert (Robin) Vollendorf; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Aileen Heide and Louise Busarow; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Thomas Burza; and two sisters, JoAnn Menden and Marie Herzog.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Wednesday from 9:15 until 10:15 at the church. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church have been suggested by the family.
