David Edwin Zepnick, age 60, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. David was born August 6, 1949, to Edwin and Martha (Nee: Lawniczak) Zepnick.
He attended St. Rita’s, Jerstad-Agerholm, and was a graduate of William Horlick High School, “Class of 1967.” After graduation Dave enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran, who loved the Fourth of July, fireworks, and Christmas. On May 17, 1986, Dave and Shelley Geilfuss were married at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church by Father John Ambelang. They enjoyed a short twenty-three years filled with joy and laughter. Dave was a Centerless Grinder last working July 24, 2006, at Beere Precision Products.
Besides his wife, Shelley, he is survived by his brothers, Richard and Bill (Malgosia); sister, Marlyn (John) Johnson and their sons, Godson, Steven, and Mark; special brother, Jack Cerny; special sisters and brother, Dawn Geilfuss and Debbie and Tom Bennett; many cousins from the Green Bay area. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Eleanor Cerny and Betty (Lester) Presser; and his special parents, Fred and Bonnie Geilfuss.
Our world was blessed with wonderful friends and co-workers we also consider as family. Thanks to Headlines for all the love and support. Dave always supplied the salon with bakery on Saturdays. Anyone who had been on the Christmas trolley – turkey trot – or even Friday night at Mike and Angelo’s know how Dave enjoyed being the host.
We were honored to be part of our younger friends' lives – he was “Uncle Dave” to Kelly and Travis Drumm, Shane and Zac, Mike, Allie, Katie and Sara Corona, David and Lisa Arvai, Dan and Laura Spranger, Tyler Mudge and his brothers, Collin and Jordan, and all the little stars in the neighborhood.
A Mass of Christian Burial followed by full military honors will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Ray Elam OSA officiating. Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday at St. Rita Catholic Church from 1 p.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to Headlines Denim Stepper-Relay For Life-“Team Dave” have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the angels at Wheaton-Franciscan ICU, 2nd Floor, 3rd Floor, Select Specialty Hospital, St. Luke’s Milwaukee, and Hospice Alliance in Kenosha for their loving and compassionate care.
