Mano Theodore Mastos

Mano T. Mastos, 92 years and ten months, passed away at his home in Eagle, Wisconsin, on January 1, 2010.

Mano Mastos was born in Racine to the late Theodore and Aregina (nee: Prinias) Mestousis on March 1, 1917. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Virl Luccason on April 17, 1942, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2000.

Mr. Mastos was a lifelong member of the Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church. He graduated from Washington Park High School. He was also a founding member of the Fifth Street Yacht Club. He was employed by Hendrick’s Motors selling VW’s in the 1960s and Young Radiator for 44 years until his retirement in 1979. His interests included boats, cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed vacationing at their home in the north woods.

“Grumps” is survived by his children, Riene (Dean Herriges) Wells of Eagle, Wisconsin, Ted L. Mastos and his life partner, Susan Carpenter, of Hudson, Wisconsin, and David L. (Myra) Mastos of Oregon, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Michael Engel, Mark (Jackie) Engel and Dimitri Mastos; four step-grandchildren, Joe (Michelle) Herriges, Julie (Jim) Kubash, Lisa (Wes) Ard and Jarid Baumann; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Engel and Jeremiah Knudsen; six step-great-grandchildren; two nephews and one niece, Scott Mastos, Joan (Chris) Haines and Gregory (Tammy) Mastos; other relatives and friends. He also was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Mastos; his infant sister, Sofia Mastos; his brother, Peter Mastos; and a great-nephew, Gregory Mastos Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Road, on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at noon with Fr. John Ketchum officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 5, 2010, from 4:30 until the Trisagion starting at 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed in Mano’s name to one’s favorite charity.

The family would like to thank Geri Williams and the staff at Brookfield Heartland Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of “Grumps” in his final months of life.
