Joyce L. (DeKeuster) Poulson

Joyce L. Poulson, age 89, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born November 18, 1920, in Racine, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Nee: West) DeKeuster Sr.

Joyce graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1940.” On May 24, 1941, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Charles S. Poulson. Joyce was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member and past president of the Christian Mothers, a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce was also active with the Sacred Heart Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for over 10 years. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Charles; four children, Cathy Poulson of Racine, Gary (Susan) Poulson of Madison, James (Dee) Poulson of Gay Mills, Charles M. Poulson of Milwaukee, three grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Poulson of Milwaukee, Jonathon Poulson of St. Paul, MN, and Sara Poulson of Madison; a great-granddaughter, Elinor; sister-in-law, Nancy Poulson of Racine; a brother, Martin (Rose) DeKeuster Jr. of Racine ;nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 1, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Reverend Ronald Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested,
