Robert Ren Loomis, 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints, on Sunday January 10, 2010.
Robert was born on July 29, 1926, in Baraboo the son of Ren and Effie (nee: Bartlett) Loomis. He was united in marriage to Marcella Hinze on December 20, 1944 in Baraboo.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army and was employed at J.I. Case as a printer, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of service. He found great enjoyment in NASCAR racing, repairing lawn mowers and working outside with many never-ending projects.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Gary) Halverson and Diane Schroeder; one son, Randall (Sharon) Loomis, all of Racine; along with six grandchildren, Michael, Christine, Julie and her husband Joel, Randall Jr., Steven and Joseph. He is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, Mikey, Melissa, Brianna, Seth, Ella, Alex and Jocelyn; one great-great-grandson, Andrew, all of Racine; three sisters, Edith, Ruby and Ruth, all of Baraboo; and sister-in-law, Mary Black of Florida.
Robert is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Racine and Baraboo. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella, in 1989; one daughter, Debra, in 1957; and two sisters, Clara and Margaret.
Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, 2010, at noon. Burial will be follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. There will be a visitation on Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
