Ruth E. (Cook) Lachat

Ruth E. Lachat, 90, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Ruth was born in Milwaukee, March 3, 1919, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Nee: Menzel) Cook.

On September 3, 1949, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Ruth was united in marriage to Joseph P. Lachat. Together they shared nearly sixty beautiful years together until this past February 6, 2009, when Joseph preceded her in death. Ruth was a dedicated telephone operator at Wisconsin Bell for thirty-one years until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed her time and travels with the Telephone Pioneers.

She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church (formerly Holy Name). Ruth enjoyed golfing with her husband and various golf leagues at Shoop and Washington Parks. Above all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Lachat, Joseph Lachat Jr., (Debra Nuszbaum) Bob (Yolanda) Lachat; granddaughters, Julie and Kelli Lachat, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her son Richard; brothers, Harold, Robert, Richard; and sister, Dorothy Seebruch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at New Beginnings for their loving and compassionate care.
