Sue M. (Vanderheyden) Peterson

Sue M. Peterson, age 58, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010, at her residence. Sue was born in Racine, July 27, 1951, daughter of the late Leo F. and Catherine “Kay” L. (Nee: Guldan) Vanderheyden.

Sue was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where on September 1, 1979, she was united in marriage to Wayne E. Peterson. Sue was employed for seventeen years at Quick Cable. She enjoyed knitting and the many years as a Girl Scout Leader and camp counselor at Camp Anokijig. Above all she treasured time spent with her family, never missing her children’s sporting events. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband of thirty years, Wayne; her four children, Michelle (Delencia) Looby, twins, Katrina Peterson and Julie Peterson, Michael Peterson; sister, Shari (Chuck) Cribbs; brother, John (Lori) Vanderheyden; sister-in-law, Carol J. Peterson; nieces and nephews, Kris (Larry) Hejny, Carey (Kevin) Lorton, Justin Vanderheyden, Mandy Vanderheyden, Brian Vanderheyden, Adam Vanderheyden; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Millie Peterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 7, 2010, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, at 6 p.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski and Rev. Richard J. Molter concelebrating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 4 p.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Edward Catholic Church or to Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center Wall of Hope have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sue’s support group: Shari and Chuck, John and Lori, Carol, Rosemary, Jim and Beth, Delencia, James, Shawn, Dr. Choi, Dr. Odders and the entire oncology staff, and friends and neighbors, for their loving and compassionate care.
