Guadalupe Perales Amaya, 76, died at her residence with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.
She was born in Crystal City, TX, on November 30, 1933, to the late Enrique and Martina (nee: Salinas) Perales, Sr. On November 13, 1958, she married Juan Amaya, Sr. in Crystal City, TX. They moved to Racine shortly after.
Mrs. Amaya worked as a certified nursing assistant for Lincoln Lutheran Convalescent Center. A devout Catholic, she attended both St. Edward and St. Richard Catholic Churches.
Mrs. Amaya was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved caring for not only her family but for the many foster children she had over the years. She was an avid cook who loved to exchange recipes with family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and cheering for the Packers. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
In addition to her loving husband, Juan, her survivors include nine children, Juan Amaya, Jr. of Racine, Sabina (Rick) Barina of Dallas, TX, Stella Amaya, Fernando (Janine) Amaya, Stephanie (John) Muñoz all of Racine, Sabino (JoAnne) Amaya of Tega Cay, SC, Ruben (Angela) Amaya, Raul Amaya, Carlos (Laura) Amaya all of Racine; 16 grandchildren, John, Justin, and Michael Muñoz, Eric Ortiz, Erica, Sierra, Corbin, Alicia, Antonio, Sabina, Raul, Brandon, Audrey, Krista, Selena, and Alaina Amaya; six great=grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Enrique (Maria) Perales, Jr., Irma (Joe) Delacruz, Bertha (Raymundo) Gonzalez, Alfredo (Maria) Perales, Josie Saldivar, Johnny (Irene) Perales; brothers-in-law, Pabalo (Eva) Amaya, Mique Lopez both of Racine, Estefana (Alfredo) Rodriquez of Crystal City, TX; many dear nieces and nephews, especially, Roberto Amaya of Racine; and dear friend, Suzanne Sivoli of Racine. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gino Perales.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church (1509 Grand Ave.) on Monday, January 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. for the celebration of her funeral mass with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. There will be a visitation in the church on Monday from 10 – 11 a.m. An entombment service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in Caledonia.
