Mrs. Clara Marie Paulson (nee: Young), 88, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Monday, January 18, 2010.
Clara was born in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late John and Ella (nee: Lohmann) Young on December 17, 1921. She was united in marriage to Frederick “Bud” Paulson in Millwood, Illinois, on December 10, 1945, who preceded her in death in 1959. She had lived in Racine since 1949.
Mrs. Paulson graduated from Wolcott High School in Indiana, class of 1939. She received a degree in nursing from Rush Medical – St. Luke’s in Chicago, Illinois, and BSN from Alverno College in Milwaukee. She served in the United States Navy in the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II. She was employed by Johnson’s Wax from 1963 until her retirement in 1987. She also worked 10 years with Hamilton Beach. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church O.E.S., Eastern Star, White Shrine, and the American Legion # 171 in Union Grove.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Robert (Sharon) Paulson of Caledonia; two granddaughters, Sherri (Greg) Ellen Barnes of Columbus, Mississippi, and Bobbi (Lyle) Hedgecock of Washington D.C.; four great-granddaughters, Samantha, Madeline, Cailyn and Claire; one sister, Helen Chalfant of Hobb Sound, Florida; one sister-in-law, Maxine Young of Lafayette, Indiana; other relatives; and special friends, Irene Dellinger, Jan Clunie, Estelle Geyer and Art (Judy) Grebetz. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Emery G. Adams; her grandson, Robert Andrew Paulson; one brother and sister-in-law, John (Elizabeth) Young and two brothers-in-law, James Chalfant and Robert Young.
Funeral service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. with The Rev. Liz Simmons officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
