Kristine M. (Chud) Roberts

Kristine M. Roberts, age 50, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Kristine was born in Milwaukee on April 16, 1958, daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Nee: Baranick) Chud.

She was employed by Promotions Unlimited for several years and was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son, Robert Roberts; her fiancé, John C. Klepp; her sister, Kathleen (Robert) Richter; niece, Meagan; nephew, Marc; other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., Sturtevant, on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.

Helen Mae Schaefer

Leesburg, FL – Helen Mae (nee, Borsh) Schaefer, 87, passed away in Leesburg, FL, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008.

Helen was born in Racine, WI, on May 26, 1921, to Julius and Helen (Kovach) Borsh. She married Paul G. Schaefer on June 14, 1941, and he preceded her in death August 13, 1997.

Helen will be deeply missed by her surviving family who include her children, J. Susan (Curtis) Barnes of Racine, H. Marie (Ronald) Seeger of Franksville, Paula J. Schultz of West St. Paul, MN, and Paul M. (Tracy) Schaefer of E. Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Curtis D. (Barbara Magsted) Barnes, Connie (Jeff) Tumm, Ronald L. (Jackie) Seeger, Cheri (Jeff) Seeger Porter, Wayne Schultz, Cheryl (Jack) Keohnen, Leslee (Josh Barnes) Schaefer Barnes and Katie (Nick Johnson) Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Sarah Tumm, Chastity, Sara and Luke Schultz, Ashley and Nicholas Keohnen, Maggie Larson, Bradon Barnes and Jesper Schaefer ; great-great-grandson, Justin Schultz; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Martha (Charles) Halstead, Ida Seyferth, Andrew Schaefer and Esther Gallo.

Memorial services for Helen will be held at Purath-Strand Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hilbert Kamps officiating. Walter Alexander Roszkowski

Muskego - Walter A. Roszkowski, 95, passed away at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Sunday, December 28, 2008.

Wally was born in Racine on April 25, 1913, to the late Alexander and Leonia (nee: Babinski) Roszkowski. A graduate of Washington Park High School, he went to serve his pattern maker apprenticeship with JI Case Co. from 1931-34. Wally began employment with the United States Postal Service in 1940. He achieved the position of Postmaster in 1972, an office he upheld until his retirement in 1974. While at the Post Office, Wally also faithfully guarded the waters of Lake Michigan with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1945-49.

On September 4, 1937, in St. Edward Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, E. Margaret (nee: Oster) Roszkowski, who preceded him in death on January 23, 2003. Following Margaret’s death, Wally moved to Tudor Oaks in Muskego to be near his family.

With a profound Catholic faith, Wally was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where he served as a Trustee and an Usher. He was also involved with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Racine Kiwanis Club, National Assn. of Postmasters, and was on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Cemetery Association. As an avid golfer and bowler, he played with various leagues. Above all, Wally was happiest when in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his son, Robert (Gladys) Roszkowski of Eagle; daughter-in-law, Annette Roszkowski of Waukesha; grandsons, Lorn Zander, Daniel (Juliet) Roszkowski and Andrew (Dawn) Roszkowski; great-granddaughter, Erika Roszkowski; brothers, Chester (Phyllis) Roszkowski and Edward (Patricia) Roszkowski; sisters-in-law, Katie and Faith Roszkowski; Cecilia Ketarkus and Helen Douglas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wally was preceded in death by his son, Richard; daughter and son-in-law, Judith (Neal) Zander; granddaughter, Jill Zander; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene (Winifred), Alex (Deliah), Stanley (Betty) Roszkowski; brothers, Casimir “Kayo” and Henry Roszkowski; and sisters, Sophie Pierce and Harriet Kaminski.

Lois Mae (Niebur) Kaplan

Lois Mae Kaplan, age 85, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008, at Ridgewood Care Center. Lois was born in Racine on May 5, 1923, daughter of the late Wilbur D. and Ruth F. (Nee: Parks) Niebur.

On May 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Jerome W. Kaplan, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2006. She was previously married to John M. Kropp, who died during World War II. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lois was a loving and caring mother dedicated to family and friends. She was always there for anyone who needed her help. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Betty (Patrick) Decker of Racine, Donna Lepianka of Crivitz, WI, Linda (Timothy) Akin and Robert (Rachel) Kaplan, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Christine (Hichem) Dhane, Joseph (Jane) Decker, Stephen Decker, Matthew (Bekka) Akin, Keri (Brian) Engelking, Lisa Akin (Carl Miller), Brandon Kaplan, Britani Kaplan, Casey Kaplan and Taylor Kaplan; six great-grandchildren, Alec, Sydney, Ferris, Andrew, Kate, and Kylie; sister, Betty Cleven of Racine; brother, Bill (Ida) Niebur of Lake Tomahawk; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. LaVane King Bradley

LaVane King Bradley, 73, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency room of Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center on Sunday, December 28, 2008.

LaVane was born in Myrtle, Mississippi, on May 31, 1935, to the late Rev. Thurman and Carrie Mae (nee: Garrett) King. She graduated from B.F. Ford High School - New Albany, MS, in 1955. Years later, she went on to further her education at Gateway Technical College in Racine. On July 7, 1955, in Waukegan, IL, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Charles Augusta Bradley.

With her vibrant smile and extremely friendly attitude, LaVane enjoyed her employment positions at Ametek Electric, WBZN radio station, and Ruud Lighting, from where she retired in 2003. LaVane was a faithful and active member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Being a devoted wife, proud mother and gracious hostess was her passion in life. LaVane absolutely loved and treasured being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her husband of over 58 years, Charles; their beloved son, Gregory Lenar Bradley; sister, Jennie M. Dixon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathleen (Orven) Brown, Mae Bradley, Alfred (Gennie) Bradley, Darrell (Maxine) Bradley, Larry (Juanita) Bradley and Flora Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents, LaVane was preceded in death by her brothers, J.V. King and Obia King, Sr.; sisters, Naomi (Lester) Williams, Laura (Robert) Crump and Lula (Grover) MacKenzie; father-in-law, Albert Bradley; mother-in-law, Birt (nee: McShane) Bradley; brother-in-law, Albert Lee Bradley; sister-in-law, Doris Bradley-Wade.

In accordance with LaVane’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at a later date.

Irene D. (Reichel) Hellesen

Irene D. Hellesen, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Home Harbor. Irene was born in Racine on July 19, 1917, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Nee: Herda) Reichel and was a lifelong Racine resident.

Irene was a graduate of William Horlick High School, “Class of 1935.” On January 14, 1939, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Elmer Hellesen, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1994. Irene was a member of the Yorkville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and had a great love for dogs. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her three children, Judy (Eddy) Huffman and Rodney Hellesen, all of Racine, and Linda Hellesen of Hawaii; her four grandchildren, Lori (Eric) Jensen of Raymond, Jennifer Huffman (Greg Butler) of Scarsdale, New York, David Huffman (Kay Pendl) of Lake Mills, and Jon (Erin) Huffman of Yardley, Pennsylvania; her four great-grandchildren, Myla and Eden Jensen, Eliza and Nora Butler; sisters, Eleanor (Clarence) White and Valeria Weiss, both of Racine; brother, Eddie (Sylvia) Reichel of Idaho; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Bernice 'Mickey' C. (Massmann) Klinkhammer

Sturtevant -- Bernice C. Klinkhammer, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Bernice was born in Milwaukee on April 24, 1917, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Nee: Eilers) Massmann.

On November 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to Karl F. Klinkhammer, who preceded her in death in 1991. In her earlier years she was employed by Goldblatts for twenty-three years. Bernice was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and St. Sebastian Senior Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, camping and feeding and watching birds. More than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three children, John K. (Patricia) Klinkhammer, Roger M. (Dianne) Klinkhammer, all of Sturtevant, and Carol L. George P. Loumos

George P. Loumos, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Middleton, WI. George was born in Kenosha, WI, on November 4, 1919, son of the late Paul and Pagona (Nee: Lampodemetropoulou) Loumos.

During World War II George served in the United States Navy Air Force and was the proud recipient of a medal for serving in the Central and South Pacific. On November 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Angeline Filandrinos, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1999. George and his brother, Tom, owned and operated the Driftwood Restaurant for twenty years, retiring in 1989.

He was a life-long member of the Kimissis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the Board and as President for many years. George managed Easterday Paint Company until operating the Driftwood Restaurant in Sturtevant with his brother and “my best friend,” Tom.

George was actively involved in several organizations including serving as the founding president of the Sturtevant Kiwanis Club (Greater Mt. Pleasant), board member of the Crime Stoppers of Racine County, member and past president of the American Hellenic Education Progressive Association, past president of the Sturtevant Chamber of Commerce, and 20-year member of the Planning Commission of Sturtevant. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing with the Johnson Park Seniors, Ives Grove Seniors and Maple Crest Seniors Leagues. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul G. (Sheila) Loumos of Racine, Dean G. Loumos, Ana Araujo of Madison, WI, and James G. (Cynthia) Loumos of Downers Grove, IL; his five beloved grandchildren and sole granddaughter, Sarah Angeline Holmquist, Alexander George Loumos, Gregory James Loumos, Christian James Loumos and Nicholas Araujo Loumos; sister-in-law, Bea Loumos of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rev. Theodore (Ionne) Filandrinos of Minneapolis, MN, Helen Drivas, Ann Filandrinos of Sheboygan, WI, Jane Poulakos of Chicago, IL, Katherine (George) Karas of Racine; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends and very special and good friend, Gladys Schubert, Sturtevant, WI. Ollie Mae Glover

Ollie Mae (nee: MacDavid) Glover, 79, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints.

She was born in Plaines, Virginia on, April 14, 1929, the daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth (nee: Kawood) Mac David. On October 4, 1946, Ollie was united in marriage to Charles Richard Glover. She has been a resident of Racine for the past seven years, and formerly lived in Salida, CO. Ollie was a nurse’s aide at Salida Hospital. She loved music; played the harmonica and piano and when she was a child, she sang with Mack Wiseman. She also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are her sons, Richard Glover, Robert Glover, Michael Glover and Brian Kieffer; daughters, Linda (Wayne) Rice, RoseMary (Bob) Dickson, Diane (Al) Deherrera and Betty Mae (Todd Tarrant) Meadows; sisters, Amanda Sanger and Mary (Donald) Pearl; and special friend, Peggy Everett. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ollie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in June 1991; daughter, Ruth Webb; grandson, Christopher Lee Meadows; two brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services will be held in Salida, Colorado, with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Salida.

Richard James Post

Richard J. Post, 74, went home to be with the Lord with his family at his side on December 28, 2008.

Richard Post was born in Racine to the late Casey and Olga (nee: Zimmerman) Post on February 19, 1934. He lived in Racine County all his life. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Iona Roder on June 9, 1956.

Mr. Post served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and trained at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He was employed at Jacobsen Textron Mfg. Co. since December 11, 1961 retiring on January 25, 1996.

Mr. Post attended First Evangelical Free Church for many years, and accepted the Lord on his Birthday in 2007. He was a man with a big heart and always gave a helping hand. He had a fun sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, especially his flowers, cats, fishing and going up north.

Richard will be dearly missed by his wife, Iona; three children, Daniel Post, Sharon (Timothy) Rosin, and Randall Post; three grandchildren, Christopher, Lori and Steven Rosin; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Arline (Gene) Levandowski, Dolores (James) Liscomb and Richard Hansen; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ronald Post, Laura Post and Claudine Post; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Alan; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lorraine (Aage) Nelsen and Jeanette Hansen; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Wayne Post, Robert Post and Judith Post.

Clara L. (Davis) Nowak

Clara Nowak, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Ridgewood Care Center. Clara was born in Mosinee, WI, on April 10, 1923, daughter of the late Chester and Anne (Nee: Berry) Davis.

On May 13, 1950, in Mosinee, WI, she was united in marriage to Ivan N. Nowak who preceded her in death on April 26, 1977. Clara was employed as an executive secretary by Mosinee Paper Mills and by Young Radiator for twenty-seven years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Clara loved her family, friends and pets but especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three children, Chris (Cindy) Nowak, Fr. Michael Nowak, Mary (Cory) Miller; daughter-in-law, Sue Nowak; her grandchildren, Tommy, Melissa, Daniel, Lisa, Jonathan, Matthew, Ryan, Andrew, Jamie and Patrick; sister-in-law, Vivian Davis; other relatives and many dear friends. Paul L. Johnson

PLEASANT PRAIRIE – Paul L. Johnson, 78, died at Aurora Medical Center on Saturday, December 27, 2008.

He was born in Waukegan on August 3, 1930, to the late Eric A. and Emelia (nee: Hokans) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson proudly served his nation with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he married the love of his life, Marilyn J. Nichols on April 3, 1954, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Waukegan. They moved to the Kenosha area shortly afterward.

He worked for Outboard Marine Corporation for 41 ½ years.

Mr. Johnson was a passionate member of the Korean Veterans S.E. WI Chapter 227, whose mission serves all veterans in need. In addition, he was a member of the Racine Carvers Club where he spent countless hours with his fellow wood carvers and dear friends. Also an artist, Mr. Johnson enjoyed his time painting. However, he was happiest when he was in the surroundings of his family.

His survivors include his dear wife, Marilyn Johnson of Pleasant Prairie; daughters, Linda (David) Neece of Seattle, WA, Lisa (John) Franklin of Racine, Leslie Johnson of Merrill, WI.; grandchildren, Angela Roepenack, Joshua Neece, Jinifer (Sean) Mapes, Christopher Neece, Ashley and Rachael Franklin, Eric and Stephanie Zengler; great-grandchildren, Riley, Madison and Payton Mapes; brother, Edmund Johnson of Alabama; sister, Betty (Lawrence) Thomas of Bristol, WI; brother-in-law, James Nichols of Waukegan; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Wilber M. Jensen

Wilber Martin Jensen, 91, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints. He was born in Racine on July 31, 1917, the son of Martin and Lillian (nee: Pottinger) Jensen.

On June 15, 1946 Wilber was united in marriage to Helen Rogers in Milwaukee. He served with the United States Army, Third Armored Division. Wilber retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than thirty years of service. He was a member of the Retired Federal Employees Association. Wilber loved all sports, especially baseball and basketball.

Surviving is his wife, Helen; sister, Joyce (John) Brossart of CA; sister-in-law, Sarah Jensen of Racine; and brother-in-law, Burton Rogers of Milwaukee. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wilber is preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Jensen, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Listowel Ayensu-Mensah officiating. William L. 'Larry' Andersen

William L. “Larry” Andersen, age 80, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Washington Manor, Kenosha. Larry was born in Racine on April 16, 1928, son of the late Arthur and Helen M. (Nee: Graham) Andersen.

Larry was a meat cutter prior to enlisting with the United States Army Air Force in February of 1945. After ten years of service he became employed as a postal clerk until his retirement to Florida in 1971. Larry then returned to Racine in 1999 to be closer to his family. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his sister, Edith M. Andersen of Racine; his cousins, Don (Joyce) Andersen and family of Delevan, Bette (Ted) Lozano and family of Milwaukee, Barbara (Charles) Hellesen and family of Racine, Dorothy Ralph and family of Alabama; his good friends, Fred Vandergraf of Bradenton, FL, Peter and Carol Feest of Racine; other relatives and dear friends.

Asusena 'Susie' (Sanchez) Gonzales

Asusena "Susie" Gonzales, age 85, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Asusena was born in Lockhard, Texas, on November 19, 1923, daughter of the late Nicholas and Geronima (nee: Lopez) Sanchez and had been a resident of Racine for fifty-seven years.

On December 4, 1941, in Cotulla, Texas, she was united in marriage to Jose Gonzalez. Jose preceded her in death on July 10, 2006.

Susie was a longtime member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and testing Lady Luck on Casino trips. She was an excellent cook whose Mexican beans and rice will be missed. She will be best remembered as a loving wife and dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include her seven children, Melida (John) Munoz, Mary (Richard) Morones, Manuel (Esther) Gonzales, Carol Mata, Yolanda (Bob) Lachat, Rosa (Roberto) Aquino and John (Julia) Gonzales; special grandson, John Joseph Munoz; and eighteen other grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Eva (Fermin) Gonzalez, Saferina (Jim) Finn, Nicholas (Stella) Sanchez, Adelaida Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Amada Ortiz, Velma Sanchez, Frances Sanchez; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Victoria A. Martinez

Victoria A. Martinez, nee, Atilano, 91, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 27, 2008.

Victoria was born in Quanah, TX, on March 23, 1917, to Feliciano and Margarita (nee, Gonzalez) Atilano. She has been a resident of Racine since 1940. Victoria married Salvador Martinez in Kansas City, KS,in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1955. Victoria was employed with Foster-Forbes for over 10 years before her retirement. She loved to crochet and enjoyed both dancing and listening to music.

Survivors include her children, Juanita (Ray) Marhefke, Christina (Terry) Huebschen, Pilar “Connie” (Donald) Milestone all of Racine, Fidel Martinez of Milwaukee and Felix (Linda) Martinez of Racine; step-son, Rudy (Donna) Martinez of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Frank (Joan) Cruz, Rebecca Cruz and Vincent Valadez. Spencer M. Nelson

Spencer M. Nelson, 75, passed away at Willowcrest Nursing Home in South Milwaukee on Friday, December 26, 2008.

Spencer Nelson was born in Mauston to Marvin L. and Helen A. (nee: Erb) Nelson on April 2, 1933. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Barbara P. Holtz on August 13, 1955, and had been a resident of Racine for over 54 years.

Mr. Nelson was employed at Wisconsin Pattern Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1994. He was an active member of the First Church of God and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Nativity Scene, Board of Directors for Jack and Jill, and took active parts in the Day Care Center and Youth for Christ Board.

Spencer is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Phyllis (Larry) Brick, Pamella Nelson, and Patrick (Heidi) Nelson; seven grandchildren, Maegan Brick, Jerrod Brick, Deidra Brick, Marla Brick, Brittany Nelson, Spencer Nelson and Noah Nelson. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Nelson, and two sisters, Shirley (Jimmy) Booth and Gloria (Duane) Stimes. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Nelson, and his brother, William Dean Nelson.

Carole J. (Blackard) Pearce-Wildenberg

Carole J. Pearce-Wildenberg, age 73, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. Carole was born in Ponca City, OK, on September 30, 1935, daughter of the late Willoughby and Leota (nee: Bowen) Blackard.

Carole was united in marriage to Shairyl I. Pearce in 1954 and was married for forty five years until his passing on October 11, 1999. She later married Wayne Wildenberg. Carole was a paralegal for many years until her retirement in 1997. She was the director of Racine Fair Housing, was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and worked for various church missions. Most important, Carole was proud to have raised seven children. She was a published poet and will be remembered for her quilting and handcrafts, and as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Clifford Schaeffer

Clifford went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 26, 2008.

He was born in Kenosha, WI, on August 28, 1920, to Peter G. and Rose (Hetzler) Schaeffer. He attended Mary O. Bradford High School and received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University in 1943. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon returning from military service he was employed by the J I Case Company. He was a member of the Case 20-Year Club and a fifty-year member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

In 1947 he was united in marriage to June Nelson, daughter of Sidney and Luella Nelson. They had two sons, Randall and Ronald. They had 23 good years of marriage until her death in 1970. In 1971 he married Florence Stonehouse. They had 32 good years of marriage until her death in 2003.

He is survived by his sons Randy (Sharon) of Racine, Ron of Seattle and step-children Judie West of Florida and Scott (Kris) Stonehouse of New Mexico. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Michele and Brian and six step-grandchildren, Guy, Sara, Andy, Nathan, Adam, and Ryan.

Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Joyce Anderson and Jeanne Wolf; brother-in-law David (Viola) Murphy; niece Claudia (James) Coticchia; nephews, Russell (Annette) Schaeffer, Tony (Carolyn) Simmers, Steven (Sue) Frederiksen, Mark (Marlene) Nelson, Robert (Julie) Wolf; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stanley and his wife Vivian; sister Alma and her husband James Simmers; sister-in-law Evelyn and her husband Evert Chamberlain; brothers-in-law Everett Nelson, Sidney Nelson and his wife Bette, Stanley Murphy, Daniel Murphy and his wife Dorothy, Gene Murphy; and niece Suzanne Draeger.

Susan Rose Juliette Blask

Susan Rose Juliette Blask , age seven months, who was loved by all, passed away on December 26, 2008, at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Susan was born in Racine on May 6, 2008, the daughter of Kevin and Sarah (Nee: Vytlacil) Blask. She suffered from Biliary Atresia and fought valiantly to survive through two liver transplants. More than anything, her family treasured time spent with Susan who could light up a room with her beautiful eyes, sparkling smile and contagious giggle.

Susie is survived by her loving parents, Sarah and Kevin Blask; brother and sister, Jonathan Mitchell Blask and Samantha Marie Jade Blask; grandparents, Juliet Edmands and Ron Primuth, of Mount Pleasant, Jerry and Sue Vytlacil of Racine, John and Michele Blask of Stanwood Michigan; great-grandparents, Donna and Jack Vytlacil of Cudahy, Shirley and Dale Betts of Cape Coral, Florida; as well as aunts and uncles, Kelly and Patty Blask of Mason, Michigan; Dan and Wendy (nee: Blask) Kaisler, Dylan and Kattie Vytlacil both of Racine; and numerous cousins, and family friends. Raymond 'Skip' A. Stewart

Raymond “Skip” A. Stewart, age 57, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, December 26, 2008, at his residence. Skip was born in Racine, September 18, 1951, son of the late Raymond W. and Helen M. (Nee: Durben) Stewart.

He served in the United States Army. Skip was employed for fifteen years at Warren Industries. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing darts, cribbage and reading. He will be dearly missed.

Surrounded by her loving family, Marion A. Ottmann, age 78, peacefully went home to her Savior on Friday, December 26, 2008.

Marion was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Franziska 'Oma' Deutschenbaur

Franziska (nee: Egger) Deutschenbaur, 93, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2008, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Unterbleichen, Germany, on June 15, 1915, the daughter of Georg and Agnes (nee: Birle) Egger.

She had been a resident of Racine for the past 47 years. Oma was united in marriage to Josef Deutschenbaur. Oma was a member of St. Rita’s Church. She was a housekeeper for James Hamilton for 29 years.

Surviving are her two daughters, Agnes Bergstrom and Emma Steinhoff, both of Racine; grandchildren, Alex (Gail) Bergstrom of Racine, John (Natalie) Bergstrom of West Allis, Susanne Bergstrom of WA, Karen Bergstrom of CO, Raymond (Karen) Billips of Racine, Francis (Willy) Gold of Racine and Connie (Toby) Masterman of Racine; great-grandchildren, Nina, Jared, Heather, Philip, Carly, Gregory and Paul; great-great-grandson, Maxwell; great-great-great-grandsons, Niko Anthony and Quinton; brother, Fritz (Ruth) Zick of BC. She is further survived by nieces, and nephews in Germany, other relatives and friends.

Gloria (Gonzales) Villanueva

Gloria Villanueva, age 60, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. She was born in San Antonio, TX, on March 26, 1948, daughter of the late Rudolph Navarro and Margaret Rodriguez.

On July 2, 2000, in Racine she was united in marriage to Martin Villanueva. Gloria was employed at MATC for 20 years. She was the founder for First Mexican Fiestas for high school students and was active with women’s issues. Gloria helped establish the Racine Women’s Resource Center, was a Vista volunteer, served on the board of Directors of the Racine Spanish Center, was a past president of the Mexican American Education Committee, and was proud to have been chosen as a delegate to the 2008 Democratic Convention. Gloria also traveled extensively including participation in a work group in Nicaragua. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed.

Miguel Aguilar

Miguel Aguilar, age 71, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Miguel was born in Coy City, Pearsall, Texas, on September 29, 1937, son of the late Eusebio and Petra (Nee: Pena) Aguilar.

On July 27, 1963, at St. Patrick Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Gloria M. Vela. He was employed for many years by Cast Tools Inc. Miguel enjoyed bowling and watching softball. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.

Marianne Vanella, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.

She was born in Chicago Heights, IL, on November 30, 1916, daughter of the late Dominic and Antonina (Nee: Gagliano) Vanella. She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Janice Nelnet (Barrett) Meyer

After a long and debilitating battle with dementia, Jan went to be with her beloved husband, and celebrated Christmas in heaven this year.

Jan was born in Racine on February 8, 1915, one of five children of Rose (Veth) and Ralph W. Barrett.

She married the love of her life, Edward J. Meyer on September 24, 1938. Jan and ed traveled all over the world and the U.S.A.. Jan was an avid photographer. She recorded all her visits with pictures and slides including beautiful landscapes, portraits and places. She later transformed these pictures into stunning paintings. She was an accomplished watercolor and acrylic artist winning awards and recognitions for her work.

Jan was a member of The Racine Art Guild and a charter member of the first Presbyterian Church of Racine. She was also very active in the Racine Children’s Theater in the 1930s.

Jan worked as a secretary for the Business and Professional Women. Jan and Ed were devoted and patriotic Americans, coming from a long heritage of proud Americans who fought for our rights and freedoms.

Jan loved nature, entertaining guests in her home, gardening and a warm inviting fireplace to sit and relax in front of.

Her backyard was beautifully groomed and decorated with numerous flowers, bushes and sanctuaries for all kinds of birds and small critters. She cared for and enjoyed being with her friends from all over the United States as well as those in her own neighborhood. Jan lived a full life with her husband and friend, Ed, who passed away peacefully in 2003. Her parents, Ralph and Rose Barrett; her brothers, Rell and Joel Barrett; her sister, Marion Obermeyer; and their spouses as well as nieces, nephews, and grand nephews were waiting for her to come home to be with them in heaven.

Jan will always be remembered for her random acts of kindness, caring and generosity; her gift of artistic talent; her patriotism and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her sister, Betty Alford, and her children Lynn Schmidt and Laurie Alford; her nephews, Rell Barrett, his wife Sandra and their children Holly and Heather; Alan Obermeyer, his wife Judy and their family, Barrett Obermeyer, his wife, Ruth Ann and their family; her niece, Kim Moe, her husband Al and their family; and numerous other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and many friends and helpful neighbors; in particular, Dee Craft who was there through thick and thin with Jan during her last difficult days as well as previous happy times and celebrations.

A Memorial service will held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Ben Johnson-Krase officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation at 3 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all the support services including Hospice Alliance, Becker Shoop Center and numerous others who helped Jan during her last days here with us.

John Klonkowski

John Klonkowski, 57, passed away at Froedtert Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

John was born in LaCrosse on September 19, 1951, to Laurel and Elizabeth (Kofta) Klonkowski. He served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. John married Karen Tomsich on November 12, 1976. He was employed at American Metal Technologies. John liked to play computer games and watch movies with his son. The most important part of John’s life was spending time with his family. John loved their Great Dane, Zoe, and their tropical birds.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Karen Klonkowski; children, Kristine A. Klonkowski, Pamela S. (Erich) Jaeschke, and John J. Klonkowski; and grandson, Brandon, and baby, Jaeschke. John is also survived by his father, two brothers, two sisters, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for John will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

George W. Brien

George W. Brien, age 94, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Brien was born in Watersmeet, MI, on May 16, 1914, son of the late Alexander and Amelia (Nee: Bastian) Brien. He moved to Racine and attended Holy Name Grade School and St. Catherine’s High School. While in high school, George participated in football, basketball and boxing. His early employment was at Western Printing and the J.I. Case Co. He also spent considerable part time employment at Porter Furniture Co and Automotive Parts Co.

His chosen career was the Racine Fire Department which he joined in 1942. He served in every division until retiring in 1979 with the last eleven and one half years as Assistant Chief.

George served several terms as President and Treasurer of Firefighters Local 321, several terms as President and Treasurer of the Old Fireman’s Relief Association , and most recently as President of the Racine Retired Firefighters.

He was an honorary member of Boy’s Town, a supporter of Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, St. Jude’s Hospital, and St. Labre Indian School, and numerous other charitable organizations.

George loved football, boxing, fishing and hunting. Most noteworthy was his love to hunt in the West, especially when accompanied by family or good friends. George was a member of the National Rifle Association and a life member of the Kenosha Rifle Club. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and greatly enjoyed the time spent on the many projects for the improvement and beauty of the church, school and rectory.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George (Deanne) Brien of Burlington; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Kurt) Yust of Racine; grandsons, Michael (Tanya) Brien of Racine, Patric Brien of Kaukauna, George Brien III of Burlington, and Benjamin Yust of Racine; a great-grandson, Cullen Brien, and great-granddaughter, Delaney Rose Brien; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia; sisters, Alice Grant and Monica Fortier; and brothers, Clarence, Albert, William, Charles, and Marvin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev John D. Aiello officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s School Tuition Fund or one’s favorite charity have been suggested by the family.
